Parking on Balally Park

For a number of years the residents association have been negotiating with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to get single yellow lines on Balally Park to reduce congestion and dangerous parking. However, this has been unsuccessful based on the council’s policies.

This topic arose at the recent AGM and we would like to share a document that outlines the council’s response which continues to be their view. Also linked is our letter to nearby residents.

Council Improvements

You may have noticed that the council performed some work in Balally over the summer. This included repairing damaged driveways and kerbs, adding double-yellow lines to improve traffic flow and increase road safety, as well as cutting down some trees that were blocking street lights or were dangerously close to overhead cables. The tree stumps will be ground at a later stage and we have made a request to add new trees in other areas to compensate for the ones that have been removed.

The residents association are in regular contact with council representatives to ensure that they are aware of improvements that are needed.

Neighbourhood Watch Update

The Neighbourhood Watch committee recently met with Garda Linda Byrne. We discussed some of the recent crime activity in the area which was described as not unusual for the time of year. Garda Byrne suggested that home owners should remember to close doors and windows and to use a house alarm, even when at home.
